Healthy Wealthy Boomer: Dr. Mickey Barber is the CMO (Chief Medical Officer) and CEO of Cenegenics Carolinas.

This is a very well done corporate “video business card or brochure” created by Charleston Magazine and yet it is good journalism. What this doctor (and others in the field of Age Management Medicine are doing) is appealing and is in alignment with the idea of disease prevenation versus disease management. So Dr Barber qualifies personally as a healthy wealthy boomer candidate and boomer role model.

Focusing on prevention is a drum we have beating a long time and is a core principle in the Healthy Wealthy Boomer philosophy.

The aspect that appeals to me most about Dr. Barber is authenticity. Her work and her desire to practice A.M.M. (Age Management Medicine) has roots in her own experience. In her forties, as a practicing physician, she became ill and did not resolve her own illness until she had success with A.M.M. interventions.

Her program combines exercise, nutrition, lifestyle and hormonal balance for men and women. This emphasis is indicative of a shift in the field of anti-aging medicine from disease management to prevention. So a mainstream definition of longevity is gradually taking on new meaning. It is no longer just “staying alive longer” or life extension, it is also beginning to mean being healthy and vital while doing it. This is both a pleasing and positive mainstream medicine philosophical shift.

Watch her video and see if you agree that her authenticity comes through. It seems that Dr Barber is sincere and loves her work because she has personal experience with her methods. Also the technology Dr Barber uses in the clinic is state of the art and impressive. This appears to be a really good application of technology combined with preventive medicine and a big plus for boomer health.

Another way to “be-come” a healthy wealthy boomer.

First off, I work at it.

I am a baby boomer. I care about people in my age group who are starting to show the signs of wear and tear and who aren’t doing anything about it. I want to help Boomers change this in a big way and I know how.

If you’re wealthy and sick, are you really wealthy? If you had a terminal disease, what would you pay to get your health back? The fact is that millions of Boomers are headed there right now unless they start doing something about it.

For the greater part of my adult life, I have been very consistent about taking care of myself. I love to feel good and I have lots of energy. Ask people that know me well and they will verify my vast reserves of energy and untiring ability to keep going after most people burn out.

I’m not a superstar, just a guy who has a system that works well for me.

I am not a tri-athlete, a marathon runner or a weight lifter. But I have amazing endurance, useable strength and overall excellent physical tone. I can’t run 26 miles but I bet I could walk 100. I can’t lift 400 pounds, but I have a healthy back and that’s what hydraulics are for – not the human body. I’m almost 56 (and that picture was taken less than two weeks ago), but most people think I’m in my 40′s and that’s not just from the way I look, it’s also how I use my body. It’s physical expression as well as surface appearance.

In my book, Healthy Wealthy Boomer: The Plan to Make the 2nd Fifty Years Better Than the 1st, I go into detail. I also wrote a companion course to implement the plan and get it working in 60 days, called “How To Look Better and Feel Better in 60 days.”

I created checklists and instructions that I keep in a binder and check off the list as I follow the program everyday. I have found this to be effective for me because it creates a visual map of my consistency, diligence and where I need to improve my efforts. At a single glance, on one sheet I can see everything I have done (or not done) for 10 days.

Over the course of the last 35 years, I have read and studied all kind of programs and been a diligent student of natural health and how to create a healthy lifestyle with the objective of a primary goal:
LONGEVITY.

Here ‘s a quick summary of what I do all the time.

I walk.

I drink lots of water.

I eat really healthy food and know a lot about what fuel works best for my body.

I practice qigong regularly.

I do Tibetan rejuvenation exercises.

I do a 6-7 minute set on the Total Gym (although right now it is in storage in another state after a recent move and I have not retrieved it yet)

I stretch.

I love my body and let him know often how much I appreciate everything he does for me.

I love myself.

I focus on positive thoughts and language.

I think healthy thoughts.

I work at balancing my emotions and being present.

I MEDITATE everyday.

I recognize SOURCE ENERGY as the root of my strength and the source of my health and I express my gratitude every day

I do lots of other things regularly – but not every day. I choose health and always take responsibility for three things:

What I put in my mouth everyday

What I think about and the words I use

How I use my time

I have developed a system that really gets long range results. It is designed to work for anybody – just regular people who want to improve themselves. You simply start wherever you are and get started doing whatever you can handle to begin with. You add more to the regimen as you develop skills, expertise and the ability to handle more.

Nothing extravagant, exotic or difficult to learn.

The key is to get started and keep doing what you can everyday. I can show you how.

I’m no super star professional athlete, just a guy who has figured out how to keep thinking right and really loves to feel good. Most of it is common sense, but it helps to have a coach to bring out the best and learn how to improve – at least until you have the system down yourself.

I’m going to start introducing live workshops, online training and various programs in the near future. I am also now focused on publishing my book with three more coming after that.

For now, if you’re feeling lousy. Do something about it.

Start walking everyday and increase the distance as your legs get stronger and your breathing improves.

Drink a gallon of water a day forever. Start with a few glasses of water and work up. I fill a half gallon container up 2 times a day and drink it all day long. You can drink a glass every hour. Whatever works for you. Just do it. Hydration is so important.

Start eating smaller portions of the food you are eating right now. And eat more frequently. Cut way back on fried foods – period. Eat more raw food and organic is way better.

Elminate toxic thinking and emotions.

None of that costs anything or is a big transition. Anybody can do what I just wrote.

Choose to start loving yourself.

Decide.

Take responsibility.

Do it.

You are perfect, whole and complete and you are loved Divinely just the way you are. There is nothing you need to change or be, just to to remember that you are perfect and really believe it.

With some practice on your part, the rest will take care of itself. Before you know it, you’ll be a healthy wealthy boomer too.

Bill Bartmann is a good man…

If there were ever a “Healthy Wealthy Boomer” role model, this is the guy. As Baby Boomers, he’s the guy we should listen to and emulate.

I first heard him speak in Orlando at a 2006 Peak Potentials event called Guerilla Business School – where I was an attendee. Then a week later I met him in LA at GBS (where this picture was taken) – only this time I was on staff.

Face to face, I was impressed by his:

genuine humility

consideration for other people

grace

mental acuity and wit

A majority of the “big guns” in the seminar circuit have huge egos. Bill Bartmann doesn’t – at least that’s my impression on a personal level and I say this from experience – not just conjecture. From June 2005 through September 2006, I was on Core Team (staff) for Peak Potentials for 26 events across north America.

In that capacity, there were many occasions to interface with speakers; often to observe them behind the scenes; how they handle themselves; how they treat staff; how prepared they were and generally what kind of people they were ‘behind the cameras’.

Bartmann is a tuned-in guy; fully conscious and present – both through astute observation as well as an active interface. He lives life fully and pays attention.

I liked him the moment I heard him say (paraphrased):

The difference between highly successful people and those who are not boils down to two words: Self esteem. I don’t consider myself to be an expert about too many things – but on this topic, I consider myself an expert.

And then he told us why…

Aside from the fact that he is a martial arts practitioner, rides Harleys, went from being a human teenage ‘gutter rat’ to becoming the 25th wealthiest man in America, he’s just the kind of guy you would want watching your back in a tough situation.

You get a sense when you meet him that you can trust his judgment and that he’s not ‘running a game’, he’s the real deal. He’s a man’s man with principles and integrity and plenty of battle scars from the street. You can tell he’s conquered his demons and come to peace with who he is. He’s not a tall man, but he is a very “large man” with an obvious command of his personal power who easily fills a large space when he enters a room.

I trusted him immediately.

When he talks about his family, he makes it clear that his family is the most important thing in his life. The rest – the money, the action, success – is all secondary to family.

He also seems to be the epitome of innovative thinking and curiosity.

Boomers, listen to this man. He knows what he is talking about.

Most the time people in America describe a billion as a thousand million.

But for this example, I would like to describe a billion as:

one million thousand or

ten million hundred

So that means you can visualize a stack of a billion dollars on your dining room table in the following different configurations:

Thinking in terms of $100 bills:

Count out 50,000 stacks of 200 (two hundred) each, $100 bills

Count out 20,000 stacks of 500 (five hundred) each, $100 bills

Count out 10,000 stacks of 1000 (one thousand) each, $100 bills

$10K Bundles of $100 Bills

You could count out stacks of 100 each, $100 bills (like this picture of bundled hundreds).

Each bundle is $10,000 each.

You would need to count out 100,000 of these $10,000 stacks to create $1,000,000,000 (one billion dollars).

You’d better have a very large dining room table.

Stacks of $100 Bills

Now it gets even more interesting when we start looking at stacks of $100 bills another way.

Suppose you wanted to make a single $1,000,000,000 (one billion dollar) stack of $100 bills.

It would have to be 10,000,000 bills high.

That is a stack of 10,000,000 – $100 bills…

According to the department of treasury a bill is .0043 inches thick. That means that 10,000,000 thick stack would be 43,000 inches tall or 3,573 feet tall – a little over 2/3 mile high.

Stacks of $1000 Bills

When we think of a $1Billion in terms of stacks of $1000 bills, a single stack would be 1,000,000 bills thick and would reach a height of 4,300 inches tall or 358.88 feet – 1.19 times the length of a football field – high

Remember a Million Thousand Earlier?

Now those stacks of $1000 bills on your dining room table would be could be configured this way:

Count out 1000 stacks, 1000 high each of $1000 bills

Count out 500 stacks, 2000 high each of $1000 bills

Count out 10,000 stacks of 100 each of $1000 bills

That’s 10,000 stacks of $100,000 bundles of $1000 bills. Whoa, that’s a lot of thousands – a million thousand.

Another Way of Looking at $1 Billion (1,000,000,0000) Dollars

$1 Billion of $100 bills end to end is approximately 55,000,000 inches long.

$1 Billion of $1 bills end to end is about 86,805.56 miles long, approximately 3.49 times the circumference of the earth

A Billion Is A Huge Number – How About One-Part-Per-Billion…

1. One 4-inch hamburger in a chain of hamburgers circling the earth at the equator 2.5 times.
2. One silver dollar in a roll of silver dollars stretching from Detroit to Salt Lake City.
3. One kernel of corn in a 45-foot high, 16-foot diameter silo.
4. One sheet in a roll of toilet paper stretching from New York to London.
5. One second of time in 31.71 years.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but an advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into some perspective in one of it’s releases. I added a few of my own here too…

A billion seconds ago it was 1976.

A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago our ancestors were living in the Stone Age

A billion hours is about 114,155.25 years

A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet

A billion inches is 15,783 miles, more than halfway around the earth

A billion dollars of the US debt – paying it off by one dollar a second – takes 31 years, 259 days, 1 hour, 46 minutes, and 40 seconds

A billion dollars ago was only 3 hours, at the rate our government is spending it (based on figures from usgovernmentspending.com ) and we’re talking 24 hours a day, 7 days a week – 365 days a year – Congress will spend a little over 8 times that amount every 24 hours every single day in 2008

The next time you hear a politician use the word ‘billion’ in a casual manner, think about whether you want the ‘politicians’ spending YOUR tax money – to the tune of ~$2,931,200,000,000 (that’s 2931.2 Billion to be spent by Congress in 2008 )

Give or take a billion…

Washington, D. C < HELLO! > Are all your calculators broken ??
